Some washi tapes are printed on clear PET tape and the character have deep colour, such as the one in this picture. This kind of washi tape is relatively easy to use.
First, stick on the scenery on your desired journal page, use scissors to cut a lot the main character to remove the excessive tape. Finally, paste the character on the scenery. The Swordman looks like he is standing in front of the Chinese building.
